LAWN TENNIS IN AMERICA.
MISS NUTHALL DOES WELL. (British Official Wirelesß.) A. and N.Z. RUGBY. Aug. 26. Miss Betty Nuthall, the tennis player, who was the youngest competitor in the recent Wimbledon tournament, has followed tip her success there by reaching the fourth round of the American women's singles championship. When play began yesterday all the British players were still in the championship. which has never yet been won by a British player, but after Miss Nuthall had won the opening match of the day against Miss Penelope Anderson, of Virginia, all her countrywomen Were defeated. Miss Nuthall's victory takes her into the last eight.
