SATURDAY MORNING'S WORK. BY ARCHER. Weather conditions were excellent for training operations at Ellerslie on Saturday and a number of horses accomplished useful efforts without being required to make time. The No. 3 g: tss was available and provided fair going, although still soft.. NO. 3 GRASS. Importer covered a round in 1.5(5 1-5. Sleepy Sol was better than Master Arch over a round in 1.5-1. San Quin, Baby Bun and Speechless.were practically on terms at the end of five furlongs in 1.12 4-5. Archeno led Vital over four furlongs in 555. Vice Versa encompassed a round in 1.53 3-5. Double Mint and Mountain Guide went four furlongs in 56 l-ss. The Fox strode over four furlongs in 57 2-ss. Modest Boy and Carinthia, after running their first two furlongs in 27 3-os, finished five furlongs comfortably in 1.11 2-5. Seranc was going very easily alongside Royal March at the end of four furlongs in 555. THE JUMPERS. Simplicitas (J. Sharkey) and Jack Lamont (R. Anderson) were sent over four hurdles and got over safely. Quinvardia (J. Sharkey) jumped a couple of pony hurdles. NOTES FROM THE TRACK. It is stated that the Paeroa trainer, J. Cathro, went to Marton last week with Massie and Scat, who- are to race at Marton and Wanganui. The successful light-weight horseman, T. Green, has been engaged to do the riding for J. T.
