BUILDERS OF EMPIRE.

SPIRIT EMULATED TO-DAY. PRINCE'S SPEECH 'IN CANADA, A. and N.Z.-Sun. VANCOUVER, Aug. 19. In an address to the Canadian Club at Victoria to-day the Prince of Wales said: " The men of the past were not content to sit at home and -wait for trade to come to them. They %vent out into "the world and sought it." In a tribute to the great adventurers of the past the Prince said the Empire owed its exsitence to these men, who relied upon their own courage entirely. " Some of my generation may wonder if we have that same spirit," said the Prince, " and if we can emulate these men. I believe the spirit of courage and endurance still exists. The war proved that."
