FROCKS AT ELLERSLIE.

HUNT CLUB RACES. GAY COLOURS PREDOMINANT. The weather on Saturday gave little promise of clearing and those who attended the Pakuranga Hunt Club race meeting at Ellerslie went well equipped to defy the elements. The day was cold and wet and those most suitably garbed chose fur wraps or raincoats. The latter were in the brightest of shades and chubby umbrellas to tone were invariably carried; thus, colours were gaily flaunted even during the heaviest downpour. Tweed tailored suits and small felt hats with furs, snugly fastened round the throat, were also a popular choice and in many instances were worn with a chic distinction. , Some of the smartest wraps were trimmed with fur and others were patterned in leopard and crocodile design. These were mainly of the tailored variety, fashioned on slim lines. Hats were highcrowried, of felt or velour, and some of the newest shapes had a wide brim that almost disappeared at the back. The buttonieres worn on the coat lapels were larger than those of last season and were worn almost on the shoulder, sometimes nestling under the ear on an upstanding fur collar. These posies were most becoming and added a charming note of colour to a one-toned toilet. Shoes of crocodile and snake or coloured kid were invariably worn to match the prevailing tone of the toilet. Among those present were: Mrs. H. 0. Nolan, who wore a black marocain frock and small black hat with brash mount and fur wrap with skunk collar and cuffs; Mrs, Duthie, black tailored suit and black velvet hat, with fox fur; Mrs. Colbeck, chestnut brown -velour coat, with fur collar, and cyclamen hat; Mrs. Dargaville, grey tweed suit and scarlet felt hat; Mrs. Black, mole-embos-sed velour coat and mole velvet hat; Mrs. Lloyd, cigar brown coat and blue and brown check skirt and brown felt hat; Mrs. Kempthorne, black sedan cloth coat, with black and white fur collar, and black panne velvet hat; Mrs. Waller, black cloth coat, with fur collar, and black velvet hat with narrow brim of beige felt; Mrs. N.
