UNPLEASANT DISCOVERY RECENT OPAWA EXPLOSION. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT • CHRISTCHURCH, Saturday. A resident of Spreydon was very surprised and disturbed yesterday when he found a plug of dynamite buried in his supply of household coal. Apparently there was no detonator in the plug, but if there had been and the resident had placed the coal on the fire the chances are that there would have been an explosion. The man took the dynamite to the office which represented the colliery from which the coal irame. The officials of the company « were very surprised at the discovery. There have been several explosions in household coal lately and last week one occurred in an Opawa residence. Pieces of coal were blown all over the room, in which a young man was sitting reading the newspaper.
