STORMY WEATHER.

A GALE FN THE SOUTH. MORTALITY AMONG LAMBS. - [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.} CHRISTCHURCH. Saturday. A south-westerly gale, accompanied by heavy rain, raged throughout last night and although the wind abated somewhat to-day, there was an almost continual drizzle all this afternoon which upset numerous sporting fixtures. The storm was particularly severe round Banks Peninsula and in, other districts where lambing has commenced. The bitterly cold weather is reported to be causing losses. Little River was isolated this morning, the waters of Lake Forsyth having encroached over the road that leads to Akaroa. This evening the wintry conditions were still in evidence. The Wahine had a severe buffeting all the way from Wellington, and arrived two hours and a-half behind her usual time.
