The hockey match on Saturday for the Rankin Memorial Cup resulted in Auckland Grammar School, the holders, easily defeating Hamilton High School, the score being 6 goals to 1. After a brief attack by Wesley's vanguard had been repulsed, Seelen made a good breakaway and, reaching the circle, he scored with a hard shot. Burton led the Wesley forwards into University's territory, only to find Radclifie the stumbling block. Play was at midfield when half-time sounded, the score being: University, 7; Wesley. 0. University continued aggressive tactics and Wesley gave two corners. A sharp attack by Wesley was held up by Leonard, and University counterattacked in the centre. The ball went out to Philpott3 who goaled with a brilliant angle shot. The Wesley defence was very poor and University continually over-ran the opposition. SOMERVILLE BEATS EPIPHANY. Somerville and Epiphany provided a fast game in which the former gained an early advantage through good concerted play. Cohen spoiled a promising position by offside play. Taw intercepted a corner-hit and took play to midfield. Baildon initiated a strong attack and the Somerville forwards confined play to the Epiphany circle where a penalty corner was gained. A hard shot from Baildon was turned outside the goal by Rankin. Epiphany, with Hewitt and Mills prominent, gained a penalty corner, but the shot was stopped by Chiplin. E.
