The effect of top-dressing has been apparent nil the winter in a good growth of grass, and cows are coming in in good condition, while lucerne stands, and kumikurm, with maize stalks, have made excellent supplementary feed for all classes of stock. v Pig-raising, is giving an added value to local farms, as maize can be grown cheaply and is an ideal food for pigs. It is claimed by some that Tauranga is the best citrus area in New Zealand, and as soon as the railway is connected to the westward, orchardists will be provided with a cheap and ready means of markoting their fruit.
