OBITUARY.

MR. WILLIAM RAMSEY. The death occurred at his residence at Mount Eden on Saturday of Mr/ William Ramsey, aged 60, a prominent member of the Ancient Order of Foresters Friendly Society. Mr Ramsey conducted a long-| established business as painter at Devon-* port, on the site of the Mutual Stores. He removed to Whangarei about 15 years ago. Returning to Auckland 10 years later he became associated with the tent and cover factory of Ross and Glendining, Limited, and resided at Mount Eden. Ha was a past district chief ranger in the Foresters' Order of the Auckland district, and secretary to Court Balmoral at Dominion Road, which he was instrumental in founding over two years ago. Tha funeral, which took place yesterday afternoon at the Purewa Cemetery, was at-" tended by a large gathering of Foresters, the burial service of that Order being read at the graveside. The district executive of the Ancient Order of Foresters has decided to hold a memorial service in the Foresters' Hall, Albert Street, Auckland, next Sunday afternoon. Mrs. Ramsey and a grown-up family of one son an<J two daughters survive.

MRS. MARY ANN FELLOWS. A Newmarket resident of nearly 50 Vears' standing, Mrs. Mary Ann Fellows, died yesterday at her home in Maungawhau Road, aged 92. Mrs. Fellows, who is believed to have been at her death the oldest inhabitant of the borough, was born at Wolverhampton, Staffordshire, two years before Queen Victoria came to the throne, and therefore lived under four sovereigns. She was married at Tattenhall, Cheshire, to Mr. William Fellows. In the late seventies Mr. Fellows decided tf» try his fortune in New Zealand, leaving his family to follow when he had established himself Mrs. Fellows, with her five daughters, embarked on the ship Wanganui in 1880, and settled at ,Newmarket, where she continued to live after the death of her husband 44 years ago.
