It is generally admitted that the state ol the greens and fairways leaves little to be desired. l'he professional, Mr. F. Branch, is sparing no pains to have everything in first-class order bv the end of the month, and is sanguine that the course will meet with approval from the most critical. The exceptionally wet weather which has been experienced during the few weeks has only served to demonstrate that little short of a deluge can materially affect the state of the ground. The greens committee is considering closing the links to players for a few days prior to the opening of the meeting. A number of improvements has been carried out at the clubhouse to meet the needs of the influx of visitors.
