POWER AT TE AWAMUTU.

In connection with the proposal to reduce the personnel of tho Te Awamutu Electric-Power Board from ten members to eight, the chairman, Mr. J. T. Johnson, stated yesterday that now that most of the important constructional work had been completed the board's affairs could be administered effectively with eight members. There would, under the new arrangement, be five members from the Waipa County, one from Otorohanga County, and two from Te Awamutu Borough. Mr. Johnson quoted the following figures, which have been sent to the department, in support of the recommendation:—Waipa County area: Population, 4950; ratepayers, 1098; capital value, £2,627,748; unimproved value, £1,590,926. Otorohanga County area: Population, 1000; ratepayers, 226; capital value, £649,060; unimproved value, £440,283. Te Awamutu Borough: Population, 1640; ratepayers, 414: capital value, £638,709; unimproved value, £322,739. Representation of population by each member would then be:—Waipa, 990; Otorohanga, 1000; and Te Awamutu, 835.
