DARING BURGLARY.

THIEF ENTERS BEDROOM. SLEEPERS NOT AWAKENED. [BY TELEGRAPH. OWN CORRESPONDENT.] NEW PLYMOUTH. Friday. A during burglary with unusual features took place at the home of Mr. W. T\. Johns, dentist, of Waitara, one night this week. Mr. Johns returned from Awakino with some cash and cheques, totalling over £3O, which he left in the pockets of his clothing, and then retired to bed early. Some time in the night an intruder entered the house' through the open pantry window. The back door was open but such access was not used. The bed- , room in which Mr. and Mrs. Johns were . sleeping was entered without either of the sleepers being awakened, and Mr. . Johns' clothes were stolen. The intruder then had supper in the yard, j bread, butter and cake being removed from the larder. Some tea was brewed, an electric heater being used to boil the water. Some of the missing clothes were found on a wood pile of the adjoining residence, but the garment containing the money was not recovered. DRAPER'S SHOP ROBBED. THIEVES BAFFLfcID BY SAFE. They also attempted to remove the safe, which contained a considerable sum in notes, silver and cheques, but they failed. A quantity of cigarettes is also missing.
