AUSTRALIANS' VENTURE. MONEY GRANT INCREASED. A. and N.Z. SYDNEY. Aug. ID. The Premier of South W flics, Lang, has increased from £5500 to £4500 the Government grant to Captain Kings-ford-Smith and Lieutenant Anderson, who are now at San Francisco waiting to start on their attempted flight to Australia. The increase has been granted in order that a Fokker piano owned by the Arctic explorer, Captain G. 11. Wilkins, can be purchased. The Vacuum Oil Company has cabled America stating that the Fokker is to be bought for £5400 provided that it is fitted to undertake the strenuous transpacific flight.
