UNDESIRABLE FEATURES. LONDON PAPER'S WARNING. (Received August 19, 8.25 p.m.) Sun LONDON. Aug. 18. The Dailv Mail expresses the opinion that unless the investing public is cautious greyhound racing is likely to be killed in its infancy owing to the promotion of companies, which the paper says have not a chance of success, and also to swindling by share manipulators. The Mail says the basic fact is that there are not sufficient greyhounds for the tracks which are being laid down in all directions. Practically all the dogs have been booked up by the ov> ners of the existing tracks. Another evil discerned by the Mail relates to betting. It says greyhound racing largely thrives on betting, but scores of men who have been warned off the turf now pose as licensed bookmakers because they have paid the Government for licences. " There have been many disturbances because rogues have failed to pay backers," says the paper. "It is true that the Greyhound Racing Association has appointed a committee to control its tracks, but it controls only a small fraction of the tracks in existence or being promoted.' _______
