ANTARCTIC EXPEDITION
ASSISTANCE FOR BYRD. £SOOO TOWARD EQUIPMENT. (Received August 19, 5.5 p.m.) A. and N.Z. WASHINGTON. Aug. 18. The National Geographic Society announces that it will contribute £SOOO toward Commander Richard Byrd's Antarctic expedition for the purchase of a scientific equipment. It is hoped the expedition will obtain important data bearing on weather forecasting.
