ANXIETY IN AMERICA.

WARNING TO MISSIONARIES. AIR FORCE STRENGTHENED. (Received August 19, 5.5 p.m.) A. and X.Z. NEW YORK. Aug. IS. The Washington correspondent of the New York Times reports that the State Department has advised the various missionary organisations in the United States that it would be highly inadvisable for Americans to return at present to the interior of China, without first consulting the American officials stationed in the particular districts. Six more amphibian planes have been shipped to China for use by the marines stationed in that country, especially at Tientsin. This will increase the American air force in China to 21 machines. Reports received by the State Department indicate that another period of chaos in China is impending.
