WITH THE HOUNDS.

PAKURANGA CLUB'S MEET. GOOD SPORT AT CLEVEDON. ! The Pakurangu Hunt met at Cleveclon on Thursday, when a good day's sport was obtained. Tho followers met at the fiall, where they were entertained at breakfast by Clevedon residents. Tho hounds were cast off on Mr. Ryburn's farm, and were quickly on tho scent of a strong hare, which led tho field across the road over a stiff double into Mr. Gore's property. Keeping a straight line for about a mile, the quarry made away over the properties of the Messrs. Graham, where a formidable barb-wire fence thinned tho field somewhat. Turning to the right across the farms of Messrs. Patton and Cairns, the hare temporarily eluded its pursuers, but was again located. A short run through the property of Messrs. . Burnsido followed, but the hare doubled back to the shelter of a wide gorse breakwind, from which tho hounds were unable to dislodge it. Tho run was a fast one with frequent fences, and abounded in spectacular incident. There were several falls, but no one was injured. Casting off on Mr. Patton's property, the hounds soon located a hare among the rushes, and after a smart run a "kill" was effected. Twenty obstacles were negotiated in the course of the run. A third hare ran in a wido circle upon Mr. Munro's property, but at an opportune check the hounds were called off owing to the lateness of the afternoon. The followers were then entertained at afternoon tea &,t the hall.
