LECTURES.

The Rev. Jasper Calder will deliver a lecture on "Evolution" at the Grev Lynn Library next Wednesday. He will deal with primitive life, and treatment of such topics as natural selection, the survival of species, reptiles and mammals, and anthropoids and man. A large number of lantern-slides will be shown. "Alexandre Dumas, Maker of Romances," is the subject of the lecture to be given at the Remuera Library next Tuesday by Mr. F. R. Reed, of Whangarei, who has made a life study of the great French writer. In a previous lecture which Mr. Reed gave to ari Auckland audience, he dealt with Dumas the Man. On this occasion he will deal with the origins of some of Dumas' popular stories. A lecture, entitled, "The Appalling Need and Appeal of Africa," will be given by Mr. C. J. Rolls, in the interests of the Sudan Interior Mission, at the New Zealand Bible Training Institute, Queen Street, this evening. A series of lectures on Biblical prophecy. under the auspices of the New Zealand Bible League, will be commenced this evening by the Rev. L. Sale-Harri-son, of Ashurst, New South Wales. Mr. Harrison is well-known in Australian evangelical circles and is the author of several books. This evening's lecture will be given at the Grafton Library. To-mor-row afternoon and on Monday evening Mr. Harrison wu! address meetings at the Unity Hall.
