DANGER OF LIVE WIRES. UNITY OF CONTROL FAVOURED. [by telegraph.—own correspondent.] TAURANGA, Friday. A meeting of the Tauranga ElectricPower Board was held to-day. Mr. T. Lockhead presided. The commissioner of Crown lands at Auckland advised that he is prepared to transfer to the board half-an-acre of land at Aongatete as a site for a sub-station, at the price of £2O. The board decided to purchase the land. In a letter in reply to the board's application for a reduction of charges for current in bulk the town clerk said the Borough Council would make a reduction of 5 per cent., provided the board was prepared to extend its agreement lor a further terra of five years. The following motion was carried: That, in order to further reduce working costs this board heaitily approves of the Te Puna special rating area road metalling proposal, and requests its members to do all in their power to carry the necessary loan poll. , A motion was carried unanimously heartilv supporting the proposal of the Te Puke -branch of the Farmers' Union to vest the control of the electricity supply in the Tauranga Power District and outer areas in one body instead of,in three bodies, as at present. A motion was adopted appointing Mr. Lloyd Mandeno as consulting engineer for'the term of two years.
