WIRELESS FOR EMPIRE.

MR. MARCITSE'S PLANS.

FIRST RELAY NEXT WEEK.

COPYRIGHT NOT A BAR. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. (Received August 18, 5.5 p.m.) Sun. LONDON. Aug. 17. Mr. Gerald Marcnse, the Catcrharn amateur wireless enthusiast, who proposes to broadcast British programmes to the Dominions, says he hopes his reequipped station will be ready for the first relay next week. In an interview, Mr. Marcuse said that when the British Copyright Holders' Association heard of his intentions it warned him against an infringement of its rights. He appreciated its claims but pointed ont that his experiment was not a commercial one, hut, on the contrary, an expensive hobby. Mr. Marcuse is to meet the holders of copyrights again when he hopes to persuade them to waive their claims until his experiments shall have proved the possibilities' of regular transmissions to the Dominions. A refusal of his request will not deter him because plenty of music on which there is no copyright is available.
