FRANCE AND GERMANY.
NEW COMMERCIAL TREATY. AN ECONOMIC LOCARNO. A. and N.Z. PARIS. Aug. 17. A commercial agreement between France and Germany has been signed by representatives of bot-h countries. The new treaty is described as an "economic Locarno." It will be in operation for 18 months from Septembei
The text of tlie agreement lias not yet been published, but it is officially stated that French agricultural products, textiles, metallurgical products, shoes, perfumery and porcelain will chiefly benefit by reduced German tariffs. Among the German exports, chemical products, machinery, cement, china and leather goods will specially gain by the application to them of a minimum French tariff.
