STRIKE IN SYDNEY.

SETTLEMENT IN VIEW. UNION ACCEPTS JUDGE'S PLAN. (Received August 18, 8.35 p.m.) A. and N.Z. SYDNEY. Aug. 18. Representatives of the employers and the employees in the engineering trade have accepted a plan, which was formulated by Mr. Justice Beeby, for the settlement of their dispute. The plan provides that employees of one firm shall resume work on the weekly hiring system, arid those of the other two firms concerned on daily hiring. Although the representatives of flic union have accepted these terms it remains to be seen whether the men will obey the instructions of their union and resume work.
