BOTANIC GARDEN.

SCHEME FOR AUCKLAND. COMMITTEE TO INQUIRE. A request to set up a committee to investigate the question of establishing a botanic garden in Auckland was recently made to the Parks Committee of the City Council by a representative deputation interested in the project. Tho committee recommended at the last council meeting that the question should bo referred to the meeting of representatives of various local authorities which will meet shortly to discuss the taking of joint action in the preparation of a regional planning scheme. This recommendation was referred back to tho committee, which, recommended to the council last evening that an advisory committee should be set up to report to the Parks Committee on the proposal. This was agreed to, and a strong committee was appointed.
