SALES IN NEW GUINEA.

FORMER GERMAN LANDS. BENEFIT TO AUSTRALIA. (Received August 17. 5.5 p.m.) A. and N.Z. MELBOURNE, Aug. 17. The Federal Government has to date received £3,346,000 from the sale of plantations which formerly belonged to Germans and other former German properties in New Guinea. There are still 21 properties not yet sold, consisting of virgin soil. These will be offered for sale by tender. The proceeds of tho sales will benefit tho repatriation fund.
