NORTH SHORE DESTRUCTOR.
LIABILITY FOR EXPENDITURE. LEGAL ADVICE TO BE SOUGHT. An interesting position is likely to arise as the result of the decision of the Birkenhead Borough Council to. disclaim liability for any expenditure incurred in the erection of a refuse destructor for North Shore boroughs. Tho Takapuna Borough Council adopted a recommendation of the Works Committee last evening that the advice of the borough solicitors be taken as to the liability of Birkenhead- It was further decided to notify the Birkenhead Council that the Takapuna Council was seeking legal advice with a view to taking proceedings. A letter from the Health Department suggested the question was now ono for conference between the Takapuna, Devonport and Northcotc Councils. It was decided that in view of the attitude of Birkenhead the Health Act itself threw tho next on the Health Department. ®
