ABATTOIR PADDOCKS.

MOUNT WELLINGTON PROTEST A resolution protesting against the Auckland City Council acquiring some 110 acres in the residential area of the Mount Wellington Road Board district, to he used as stock paddocks for the municipal abattoirs was passed at a largely-attended meeting of Mount Wellington ratepayers yesterday. It was stated an objection had been made by the Road Board, pointing out that sufficient land for the purposes of the abattoir was available in non-resi-dential districts. The suggested paddocks would be in a thickly-populated area and considerable depreciation in the values of surrounding property would result. It was decided to support the Road Board's action and to bring the matter under the notice of the member for the district.
