SHIPPING AT AUCKLAND.

FIGURES FOR LAST MONTH. A total of 596 vessels of 331,035 gross tons arrived at Auckland in July. These comprised one Royal Mail steamer, 24 large cargo vessels, 12 intercolonial or Island traders, 35 coastal vessels, and 524 local coastal vessels. Compared with July, 1926, the large merchant shipping showed the same number of vessels, with a decrease of 7297 gross tons. The local coastal vessels decreased by 58, and there was, a decline of 10,526 gross tons. The returns for Onehunga showed the arrivals for the month comprised 25 vessels of an aggregate .gross tonnage of 15,061, a decline of six vessels and 2496 gross tons compared with July, 1926. The total imports to the port of Auck land last month were 92,034 tons, compared with 122,602 in July, 1926, a decrease of 30,568 tons.
