PUBLIC SERVICE FACILITIES.

METROPOLITAN BOARD PROPOSED

The Henderson Town Board met this ■week, the chairman, Mr. E. G. Rowntree, presiding. The Citizens' Committee called attention to the necessity for the establishment of a metropolitan board to deal with public services, such as electric lighting, water supply and transport facilities. The board favourably considered this matter, the chairman saying that unless something !W»s done in this direction, Henderson would ultimately be absorbed in the Greater Auckland scheme, this, in his opinion, was extremely undesirable?. It was decided that a letter of thanks be sent to the committee and the matter discussed more fully at a future meeting. The Waitemata County Council wrote requesting assistance in defraying the cost of erecting boundary posts in the district. It was resolved that a donation of £lO be offered for this purpose. A tender for plastering the exterior of the Town Hall, received from Messrs. Gibson and Critchfield, for £2OB 17s was accepted. The sanitary inspector reported that tne general cleanliness of the town was good and no cases of infectious disease had been notified.

A report bv the foreman stated that the footpath on" Te Atatu Road had been formed, and thai about 100 yards of shell or scoria were reouired to complete..'t. The footpaths in William Street, Valley Road and Edmonton Road had also received attention, 10yds. of .shell being Used. Twelve yards of metal had been placed on View, South and Roads. Seven water meters had been put in and all water mains flushed. Accounts amounting to £405 9s lOd were passed for payment.
