FATE OF "ELDERLY MAN.
ACCIDENT IN CEMETERY,»

An inquest was held to-day before Jfr. H. Rogers, J.P., acting-coroner, and & jury into the death of Mr, James Watthen, aged 74, who died on Sunday evening as the result of injuries received through a tree falling on him while ha was working in the Ngaruawahia Cemetery. Deceased went , down into a trench round the tree, which blew over on him. He was taken to Mis home by a passing motorist and received medical attention. No bones were fractured, but he suffered severely from brqises and shock. After hearing the evidence the jury returned a verdict that deceased met his death as the result of an accident. Deceased, /had been a resident of Ngaruawahia for 16 years, and was a man of high character. FATALITY AT PTJXEKOHE. CHINESE LOSES HIS Llf E. [by telegraph.—Own correspondent.! PUKEKOHE. Tuesday. A Chinese, Kong Kwong, aged 64 years, was killed this afternoon during tree-felling operations at Lin Ging Chang's market garden at the top ©S Bombay Hill. Deceased and another Chinese wers felling a big pine tree, and as it cams down Kong was struck and pinned against the stump, his right leg £«d the lower part of his body bptng badly; crushed.
