GIFT TO UNIVERSITIES.

BEQUEST OF £150,000.

SCHOLARSHIP FOUNDATION

[ A large sum—about £150,000, it, is believed—was left by Lady Henry, who ! died in London on May 10, to English and American universities. Oxford and Cambridge, l'alo and Harvard are the universities mentioned, and the idea is to establish scholarships in each country which will be open to students from both countries. The scholarships are to bo open to either men or women, British students anxious to graduate at Harvard or Yale or Americans wishing to go to Oxford or Cambridge. Twelve trustees—three from each of those four universities—will administer the fund and approve the candidates. The actual sum that will be at then disposal cannot yet be definitely estimated, as the will has still to be proved and the estate realised. Lady Henry's father was Mr. Leonard Lewisohn, an American copper magnate! In 1892, she married Sir Charles Henry, who represented the Wrekin division in the Liberal interest for some time before his death.
