GOLDFIELDS JUBILEE.
PREPARATIONS AT THAMES. OFFICIAL SONG ADOPTED. [RY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] THAMES. 'Wednesday. The committees for the Thames Diamond Jubilee celebrations met last evening, the Mayor, Mr. W. Bongard, pre siding. The Hon. G. J. Anderson advised that he was hopeful of arranging his Parliamentary duties to permit of his attending the celebrations. Mr. A. W Wellsted, railway busiuess agent, convoyed the desire of the Railway Department to assist the organisation in every way possible. Several suggestions were forthcoming for the running of excursions, which Mr. Wellsted undertook to convey to the departmental officers. The tender of Messrs. Corbett and Winder, for the transport of visiting pioneers from the steamer, was accepted, together with the offer of the Auckland Automobile Association to conduct a motor tour on Monday, August 1. The Programme Committee recommended that a specially written song, "Hearts of Gold." be officially adopted by the committee, and that it be sung at the official concert by Mr. Abel Rowe. A decision to adopt it as t-be .jubile® song tu caw**.
