BEEF RATES ADVANCE. Reports on the weekly stock sale at Frankton on Tuesday are:— New Zealand lioa,n and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited.—Beef was penned in short supply, and an advance in prices resulted. Fat sheep fully maintained last week's rates. Store cattle and sheep mot with a pood demand. A pen of local crossbreds made 31s 5d and North Island crossbreds made 255. Slips brought 21s to 2:1s; atortw, 30s to 41s; extra large stores, to 'l6s. SOUTH SEA WHALE OIL, FALL IN THE MARKET RATE. It was recently reported from Copenhagen that the Norwegian Association of Whalers had sold its South Sea production of whale oil to European liuyers at £27 a ton for the best, quality, which is between £6 and £7 less than the price obtained last year. The whole production is estimated at 380.000 casks. Of this quantity 90,000 casks were, however, sold at an earlier date at £3O, and 37.000 casks a little later at, £23. The average price for last year's output wns £33 15s 5d for the best quality, and apart from the great reduction in the price this year the enhancement in the value of tbe Norwegian krone will further considerably reduce the profit on whaling. LONDON WOOL SALES. Dalgety and Company, Limited, report having received the following cablegram from their London house, dated June 28:—The following vessels in which we are interested have arrived in tune for the wool sales; Hororata. Mahia, Maimoa, Pakelia, Somerset, Taiuui. Anglo-Colorri-hian, Delphic, Horatius. We will soil on July 7, 15 and 20. The, Bank of New Zealand has been advised by its London office that the list of arrivals for the fourth series rtf sales, commencing on July 5, closed on June 27, and that the last ship to be included was the Northumberland.
