THE AUCKLAND CENTRE. FOURTEENTH ANNUAL REPORT. The fourteenth annual report of the Auckland centre of the New Zealand Bowling Association, to be presented at the annual meeting on June 28, states: The past season has shown a substantial increase in membership, mainly owing to the affiliation of six new clubs, Henderson, Hillsborough, ITokianga, Mangere, Tauranga South, and Te Papapa, which brings the total of clubs comprised in the Auckland centre to 52, with an aggregate membership qf 3067, as against 46 clubs with a membership of 2793, for the previous season. Early in the season a petition from the northern clubs for the formation of a North Auckland Centre was presented to the Dominion Council, and with the full consent of the executive the request of the petitioners was granted, the new centre to come into operation at the close of the present season. As a .consequence, the following clubs will be lost to the centre: Dargaville, Hikurangi, Hokianga, Kawakawa, Kensington, Maungaturoto, Paparoa, Wainu, and Whangarei. The executive regrets the loss of the close associations with these clubs, but cordially wishes the new centre every success. T!io executive extends congratulations to H. Clarke, winner of the singles, and A. Brackebush and M. Walker, winners of the pairs, at the last Dominion tournament.

Mr. J. W. Hardley has donated a handBome shield for competition between the bowlers of the Auckland and South Auckland centres. With the object of drawing up conditions of play for the shield, the full executives of both centres met in Auckland in May. and decided that home-nnd-home test matches should be played each year to determine the possession of the shield until the ensuing season, arid also that it be a recommendation that social games be held between the clubs of the two centres at the same time as the lest matches,- (he first match is to be played in Auckland, eight rinks aside, on December 7, 1927, and the second match in the South Auckland centre later in the season, on a date to be mutually agreed upon. The attention of all bowlers is drawn to the fact that the new rule governing the stamping of bowls is now in force, viz.: " The D.N.Z.8.A., 1925 and the stamps of subsequent years are now the only Dominion lest stamps recognised."
