EXPORT OF MEAT.
STORAGE IN LONDON. PROPOSAL OF THE BOARD. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT. ] WANG AN UI. Wednesday. At a meeting of the Farmers' Union to-day a strong protest was made by Mr. G. McGregor against the proposal of the Meat Board to erect storage premises on the Thames, London. He maintained there was plenty of storage space in London which could be leased for a year or two without incurring heavy expenditure such as was proposed. Apart from that aspect, it was doubtful if the New Zealand meat companies would put "their meat in store there. Mr. W. Morrison said the producers here had a grievance in regard to the matter of storage, and now that the board was about to provide storage the union should not throw cold .jvater on the scheme. He felt sure the board would be shrewd enough to build stores at such a cost as would ensure a reduction in the charges. Mr. McGregor said the stores would cost about £1,000,000, and they would be a liability on the fafmers of New Zealand. It was decided to send to the Meat Boa'rd a copy of a letter from Waverley asking for information on the matter.
