YOUNG WOMAN ASSAULTED.

GARDENER FOUND GUILTY. [BY TELEGRAI<H.—OWN CORRESPONDENT.] HAMILTON, Wednesday A verdict of guilty, with a recommendation to mercy, was returned by the jury in connection with the charge preferred against Henry Morris (Mr. Allan Moody), in the Hamilton Supreme Court, of having attempted to commit rape on a young woman near Te Awamutu. Evidence was given that the accused, who was employed as a gardener at .the Tokanui Mental Hospital, visited the woman during the absence of her parents, when the offence was alleged to have been committed. The jury was an hour considering the verdict. Accused was remanded for sentence until ' Friday. His Honor said he would give heed to the jury's recommendation and to the plea for leniency made by counsel.
