COLLISION WITH CAR.
CYCLISTS FOUND ON ROAD. [BI TELEGRAPH. —OWN COR RK3PONDENT. ] WELLINGTON. Sunday. A sensational accident occurred on the Hutt Road this afternoon, when a motorcycle came into violent collision with a motor-car. The cycle was being driven toward I'et'one by Mr. Angus Welsh, aged 20, and Mr. Godfrejr Dovvsett, aged 19, was sitting on tho carrier at the back. On reaching the intersection of tho new Khandallah deviation road the cycle crashed into a motor-car proceeding in the opposite direction. The two men were found lying on y the road some distance away by another motorist shortly afterwards, and although the vehicle with which the cycle collided was nearby, the driver had disappeared.
Both men were removed to the hospital, where Mr. Welsh was found to be suffering from injuries to the ankle and from shock. His companion had received injuries to his head. The motor-car was badly damaged. The wind-screen was smashed, the right front wheel torn off and the hood badly ripped in the front. The cycle was also considerably damaged and was almost under the motor-car.
Traffic on the road was disorganised for some time by the accident.
MISHAPS AT DTJNEDIN. CHILD'S LEG FRACTURED, [lix TELEGRAPH. —PIUES3 ASSOCIATION. ] DUNEDIN, Sunday. Several accidents occurred in Dunedin during the week-end. A youth, Patrick McDonald, aged 17, received injuries to his back in a Leagua football match yesterday. He • was conveyed to the hospital. Roderick McLean, aged 18, was admitfed to the hospital suffering from injuries received through falling from a bicycle. While riding a trolley last evening, Charles Stevensotij aged nine, run into a lamp-post and fractured his leg.
