MOTOR-CAR DESTROYED.
IGNITION OF BENZINE. OWNER'S EXIT THROUGH WINDOW A 5-seater Rollin motor-car, owned by Mr. Harrison Smith, of Victoria Avenue, Remuera, was totally destroyed by firo shortly before 9 o'clock last evening. Mr. Smith was attending to the car in a garage, situated in Shore Road, near the Convent of the Sacred Heart. Ho dropped a spanner on the battery which caused a spark and some benzino becamo ignited. The next moment the whole motor-car was in 'flames, Mr. Smith making his escape through tho window. The Remuera and Parnell brigades were summoned, and, although they prevented extensive damage to the garage, they were unable to save the car. The motor was insured for £3OO in tho Sun Office and the garage for £SO in the New Zealand Insurance Office.
