SHIPMENT BY PORTS. high ratio of finest grade. Returns of the shipments of dairy pro- " duce from the various ports to March 31 are published in the Dairy Produce Exporter. BRITISH WOOL CLIP. INCREASE IN THE FLOCKS. The British wool clip, contrary perhaps to popular belief, is heavier than that of New Zealand. The sheep in the British Isles in 1926 numbered 26,390,000; in New Zealand 24,904,000. The British flocks fell in numbers during the war by over ten millions. In 1910 they were 32,000,000. There lias been a steady increase in the British flocks since the war, ancl the wool clip of 1926 was increased by 5 per cent, on that of 1925. WAIHI GOLD MINING CO. DIVIDEND OF 2s A SHARE. The Auckland director of the Waihi Gold Mining Company has received cabled advice of the company's results for the year ended December 31, 1926. This states that after provision for taxes £19,000, depreciation £9200, and a total dividend of 2s a share —the second half of which will be payable on May 25—a balance of £16,500 remains to be carried forward. The balance carried forward is £6200 less than was carried forward last year. • Last year, the provision for taxation was £18,091 and for depreciation £9900, in addition to which £15,000 was added to mine development account, leaving a balance of.'profit of £54,499. The dividend absorbed ,£49,591, the balance carried forward being £22,724. From the cabled figures, it appears, that the balance of profit remaining after the appropriations mentioned was* £43,366. LONDON MEAT MARKET. PRICES AT SMITHFIELD. The annual report of the Dominion Rubber Company, whose headquarters are :n i Dunedin, states that the profits for the 5 vear ended November 30 were £16,470 4s 7d, to which has to be added the bal- : ance oi £583 10s 7d brought forward from i last year, making a total of £17,158 15s 5 2d. Interim dividends paid in June and September absorbed £IO,OOO and the dsrec- ! tore propose to pay a further dividend of | 10 per cent., making 30 per cent- for the - year, £SOOO, and to carry forward £2158 | 15s 2d. , The company's property is at Kelarstan, | Malay States,* and comprises 1000 acres. : The crop was 483,1871b., being in excess of the quantify fixed as the company's ; standard production, viz., 477,0001 b.
