WAITEMATA POWER BOARD.
Sir,—ln your report of the unfortunate error which was responsible for th« alteration of tho result of the above election you state that it waft through a mistake in 'phoning the Birkenhead figures, also, through a miscount of tho votes in the city booth, Mr. Oreenalade's majority was increased by 9D. This statement has been the means of (treating an impression that tho error was mndtV in the Birkenhead city booth, and. in fair, ness to myself and .the poll clerks associated with me, I desire to put "the matter right. The returns for tho ahovii booth were the first in for the Birkenhead Borough, and were absolutely correct. The fact that only 01 vote® were recorded at the Birkenhead city booth is clear proof that there could not have been a mistake of 99 votes as far oa any one candidate ia concerned. H. J. MOPHAIL. Deputy Returning Officer.
