RADIO AND LICENCES.
FIGURES FOR LAST YEAR. LARGE AUCKLAND PROPORTION. [BY TELEGRAPH. OWN CORRESPONDENT. 1 WELLINGTON, Saturday. All radio licences throughout the Dominion expired on March 31. Up to that date the number of licences in force in New Zealand was 18,162. The figures for the chief centres were:—Auckland, 8860; Christchurch, 4410; Dunedin, 1546; Wellington, 3346. Radio dealers' licences for the same year totalled 1187, the details being:—Auckland, 405; Christchurch, 195; Dunedin, 109; Wellington, 478. Isa addition to these 116 licences for transmitting as well as receiving were in operation, the majority of these haying been issued to members of radio clubs. Three other experimental licences had been granted, one each in Auckland, Christchurch and Wellington. The grand total, as at the end of last month, was therefore 19,468. to noon yesterday the number of reregisitrations and new licences issued in -the various parts of the Dominion since the beginning of the month was 16,517.
