The New South Wales tennis championships resulted as follows Men's singles: Crawford defeated Schlesinger, 7—6, I—6, 9 7 1 5—7, 6 —4; men's doubles: Peach and North defeated Willard and Schlesing _ 5 2, B—b; women's singles: Miss Boyd defeated Miss A Vhurst, 5 —6, 6—4, 6—2; women's doubles; Miss Akhurst and Miss Cox defeated Mrs. Utz and Miss JJovd, 6—o, 6—2. WRESTLING IN SYDNEY. WALKER LOSES TO WILLIAMS. (Received May 1, 5.30 p.m.) A. and N.Z. SYDNEY, May 1. At the Sydney Stadium last evening Sunny " Jim Williams defeated Wally Walker in 10 rounds, when the referee stopped the contest. Walker was badly punished and was floored several times and almost took the full count. WRESTLING AT MELBOURNE. EDWARDS DEFEATS MEESKE. (Received M s.y 1, 5.30 p.m.) A. and N.Z. MELBOURNE, May 1. In a wrestling contest at the Melbourne Stadium last evening Hilly Edwards defeated Billy Meeske by ouo fall to nil. The bout was rough and exciting. Both men fought, punched and gouged each other. The contest was even until the sixth round, when Edwards obtained a series of headlocks, which rendered Meeske nearly unconscious. This enabled Edwards to pia him down. At one stage the referee was almost knocked out by a kick in the mouth. PROFESSIONAL LAWN TENNIS. MISS LENGLEN TO VISIT BERLIN. A. and N.Z. BERLIN, April 30. STOCK EXCHANGE EVENT. (Received May 1, 6.6 p.m.) A. und N.Z.-Bun. LONDON. April 80. The annual Stock Exchange walk from London to Brighton was won by S. M. Ayles for the third year in succession. His time was 9h 20ia 15s, which was 6s outside the record. The distance is about 52 mile#.
