OPENING OF CCMPETITIONS, DEFEAT OF SOMERVILLE. GOOD DISPLAY BY UNIVERSITY. Tho championship matches under the auspices of the Auckland Hockey Association were commenced at tho Bemuora grounds on Saturday afternoon. Tho conditions were ideal and a fairly high standard of play was revealed.
