MEAT FOR ARMY.
WAR OFFICE TENDERS. SOUTH AMERICAN COMPETITION. (Received April 8, 5.5 p.m.) A. and N.Z. LONDON. April' 7. The War Office is inviting tenders for 6070 tons of frozen beef and 380 tons of mutton, deliverable at Egypt, Malta, and Gibraltar partly during the six months ending in November, and partly during tho year ending in May, 1928. Tenders close on April 28. It is anticipated that the South Americans will again undercut the Australians for the pending canned beef contract for the Admiralty, but owing to vigorous Empire propaganda it is hoped that Australia will secure tlie award.
