STRUCK BY MOTOR-CAR.
SCHOOLBOY BADLY INJURED.
RETRIEVING HAT FROM ROAD.

A son of Mr; R. W. Davis, of Rugby Road, met with a serious accident yesterday when returning homa from school with several companions. It is stated that when near Rugby Rpad one of the other boys snatched his cap and threw it in front of a motor-lorry. The lad, anxious to regain possession. of his hat, rushed on to the road, but did not notice the approach of a. taxi-cab from the opposite direction. He ran right into the back of the mudguard of the latter vehicle. The driver had slowed down to pass the lorry, and did not know of. the occurrence until his passengers at the back informed him.
The boy was conveyed to the Stratford Hospital, where it was found he had sustained a fracture of both jaws, facial cuts and other injuries. This afternoon the boy had not regained consciousness and was in a critical state.
