UNIVERSITY DEBATING.
MEETING OF THE SOCIETY.
The annual meeting o! the Auckland University College Debating Society was held this week, the president, Professor Anderson, presiding over a small attendance.
The annual report and balance-sheet showed that last year had been a prosperous one for the society.
It was decided to recommend the incoming executive to consider the advisability of inviting distinguished visitors to take part in informal discussions at meetings of the society. The following officers were elected:— President. Professor Anderson: student president. Mr. C. R. Straubel; vice-presi-dents, Mr. L. Usher and Miss D. -Potter: committee. Misses R. Walker and O. Jewell and Messrs. R. W. Towers and N. A. Leonard.
The more important of the society's debates this year will be open to the public.
