OYSTER-PICKER FINED.
ELDERLY WOMAN'S OFFENCE.
A charge of picking oysters at Murphy's Reef was admitted in the Police Cosirt yesterday by an elderly married woman. F. Dalton. Mr. V. N. Hubble, who prosecuted, said that defendant was seen by an inspector picking oysters, and when approached he found that she had picked a dozen. Her skill in picking them suggested that she was an expert. Another inspector had seen her pick six oysters. For the defendant it was stated that she had been waiting for her husband who was in a boat, and was idly knocking oysters off the rocks. She said she had picked only two. A fine of £1 was imposed.
