A PROFESSIONAL THIEF.
" MADE BUSINESS OF CRIME." MOTOR-DRIVER IMPRISONED. [BX TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT. 1 WELLINGTON, Friday. A motor-driver, Frank Smith, aged 41, who had pleaded guilty to two charges of theft from a dwelling, was sentenced in the Supreme Court to-day to imprisonment for three years with hard labour. The Chief Justice, Sir CharJes Skerrett, said he was satisfied prisoner was a professional thief who made a business of crime, and the offence with which he was charged was a mere instance of a tour of hotel thieving. His Honor regarded the crime as very serious and very dangerous.
