COMPANIES FINED.
ACT NOT COMPLIED WITH.
STRICT OBSERVANCE REQUIRED.
A number of companies were prosecuted in the Police Court yesterday for failing to comply with the requirements of the Companies Act. m Mr. V. N. Hubble, who appeared for the Stamp Duties Department, said that owing to the great growth of company business in Auckland the department intended in future to enforce very strictly all the provisions of the Act, including the payment of fees, returns of particulars required, and notification of changes of address. The business had increased to such an extent that no proper check could be kept unless all the formalities were complied with, and to send out two or three notices to defaulting companies involved a great deal of extra work.
