CELEBRATES 88TH . BIRTHDAY*
Archbishop -Redwood celebrated his 88th birthday yesterday. Born in Staf-' fordshire, England, Archbishop Redwood came to New Zealand with his. parentsL. at the age of three. His father was one > of the pioneers of the Nelson district and the Redwood family is one of the best known in Nelson and Marlborough today. At the age of 12 he went to France to stady for the priesthood, and he holds the distinction of being the first boy to leave New Zealand for- such a purpose. On the death of Bishop Viard he was appointed the second Roman Catholic Bishop of Wellington. He celebrated his 50th anniversary of his consecration as a bishop on March 17, 1924. This record of 53 years as a is believed to be unequalled.
