Later in the year he expects to return to" Auckland to settle with his family for an indefinite period before taking up foreign work again. Dr. P. H. Buck, who has performed valuable services to the Auckland Institute, was congratulated by the members of the council yesterday on his appointment to the task of directing Polynesian research' for the Bishop Museum at Hawaii. The chairman, Mr. H. E. Vaile, described Dr. Buck's departure as a severe loss to the institute. Dr. Buck thanked the members for their good wishes, and promised. to keep the 'interests of the institute in view when he went to Honolulu. «y'\
